about

Solo, ‘the leopard’ is a praise name for Ibrahima. This song is an adaptation of an older tune, Sutuku Kumbusora, and it was dedicated to Ibrahima Jarju, a presenter on Gambia’s Radio Syd. It features Dembo’s delightful sariro (strumming) variations. "Yao ya Solo le, Yao ya Solo fele ke jangjang nyimma Solo le, Solo Karmaring (Ah Solo, look at tall handsome Solo, Proud Solo)."
