"The kora is sounding, the drums are sounding; Saliya Ndambungo Tali is lying dead, Saliya the trader. The people of Niomi Juffure are weeping. Ndambung enjoyed his life to the full and so should all of us. I’m afraid of death – the loneliness of being left behind." This lament for a great trader and patron of music was composed several decades ago. It is a version of the first song ever composed specifically for the kora, Kuruntu Kelefa, and is supposed to imitate the sound of Kelefa riding on horseback.
this is one of the most beautiful collections of music I've heard in a very long time. every song draws your attention - don't plan on doing anything else while you listen. more please 🙏 kimmcb
