Kansala (Guinea), had an awesome reputation as a fighter. The musicians nicknamed him ‘barrel-ender’ because of the barrels of gunpowder he got through in battle. This is Kausu’s version of the song. "Ngaleng Sonko, the barrel-ender, was in the right; war is terrible. Words are easy, but the moment of action is difficult." In between verses, Dembo and Kausu thank each other for their delightful improvisations on the kora.
this is one of the most beautiful collections of music I've heard in a very long time. every song draws your attention - don't plan on doing anything else while you listen. more please 🙏 kimmcb
