‘The groanless man from Fayinku’ is the refrain of this song, which commemorates a warrior from Kabu (Guinea-Bissau) who was so brave that even when wounded in battle he didn’t groan. Kausu improvises lyrics on the brevity of life, advising his friends to enjoy themselves while they can. With its lyrical melody and rocking off-beat rhythm, this tune is typical of the Casamance repertoire.
this is one of the most beautiful collections of music I've heard in a very long time. every song draws your attention - don't plan on doing anything else while you listen. more please 🙏 kimmcb
